Vanessa Frias-Martinez

  I am an Associate Professor in the iSchool and at the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS). I am also Affiliated with the Computer Science Department. My research focuses on smart cities, human mobility and data science for social good. I am interested in enhancing policy making through data-driven approaches using novel sources of information such as cell phone or GPS data. I have done extensive work in emergency   response, socio-economic development and smart transportation.
